Death. The Suffering Servant.

“Though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:6-8)

And he [Pontius Pilate] said, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they shouted all the more, "Let him be crucified!" (Matthew 27:23)

"What is your judgment?" They answered, "He deserves death."Then they spit in his face and struck him. And some slapped him," (Matthew 26:66)

"And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head. And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him." (Matthew 27:30-31)

"But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:5-6)

"And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit." (Matthew 27:50)

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." (1Peter 2:24)

"For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:21-22)
